Louis Vuitton is readying itself for the most significant date in its 125-year organisation with London
Louis Vuitton is readying itself for the most significant date in its 125-year organisation with London – the opening, the week after next, of its New Bond Street “maison”, in the guts of the West End. The Louis Vuitton UK flagship will rival the LV store on the Champions Elyses in Paris.
Bernard Arnault, the French entrepreneur who has built LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton into the planet’s biggest high class goods empire, and who ranks 7th on the Forbes billionaires list, along with Yves Carcelle, the chairperson and Chairperson of Louis Vuitton, head a roll-call of grands fromages and stars arriving for the red-carpet event. And Marc Jacobs himself, the North American designer who is creative director of Louis Vuitton, and whose catwalk shows are one of the freshest tickets on the Paris prt–porter calender, is anticipated in London for the night. The new London LV maison has been designed by the New York-based designer, Peter Marino, who also worked on the brand’s Champions Elyses maison. It features eye-dazzling highlights like a two-storey wall of trunks – to show off the LV practice of working in leather – and a glass and LED staircase. The fifteen thousand sq ft store is intended to reflect the 21st century mood of London and bring together creativity, heritage and fashion – all values that are crucial to Louis Vuitton, M. Carcelle expounded.
